The Building Substitute Teacher & Substitute Program Coordinator is a certified faculty member whose primary duty is classroom instruction across Preschool through 8th grade, including special subject areas. This educator provides high-quality instructional continuity by serving as the assigned classroom teacher when faculty are absent.
In addition to instructional responsibilities, this position provides leadership and oversight of the school’s substitute program to ensure instructional excellence, consistency, and alignment with the school’s mission and academic standards. This role functions as a professional educator and member of the instructional faculty. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt faculty position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the classroom teacher of record in PK3–8th grade classrooms, including specials (Art, STEM, Music, Spanish, PE) as assigned
  • Deliver lesson plans in alignment with curriculum standards and biblical worldview integration
  • Provide classroom management, student assessment, and instructional guidance consistent with faculty expectations
  • Exercise professional judgment in adapting instruction to meet student needs
  • Maintain continuity of learning during faculty absences
  • Collaborate with grade-level and department teams to support academic progress
Substitute Program Leadership
  • Provide oversight of the school’s substitute teacher program to ensure instructional quality and readiness
  • Select, train, and mentor substitute teachers in instructional practices, classroom procedures, and school culture
  • Coordinate substitute assignments to maintain instructional continuity
  • Exercise discretion and judgment in matching substitutes to classroom needs
  • Maintain substitute program standards and expectations consistent with SRCS faculty policies

Spiritual & Faculty Leadership
  • Model mature Christian character in speech, conduct, and professional responsibilities
  • Integrate biblical principles into instruction and student interactions
  • Foster Christ-centered relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
  • Support school programs and co-curricular activities as part of the faculty community
Qualifications
  • Valid Florida Teaching Certification
  • Demonstrated classroom teaching experience
  • Ability to effectively instruct students across multiple age groups
  • Strong instructional leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in educational settings
  • Active member of Spanish River Presbyterian Church or another church approved by school leadership
  • Strong personal commitment to the Christian faith and biblical worldview
